There will be extended, full closures of the Hood River Bridge on Monday, October 9, 2017, and Tuesday, October 10, 2017. The complete closures will likely last from 40-60 minutes each. The closures are due to a series of complete lifts of the bridge span. These closures are expected each day between 9am to 3pm.
Again, travelers should plan for up to 60-minute delays of the entire bridge on Oct 9th and Oct 10th. Needless to say, this will cause major delays lasting longer than the closures. The Port of Hood River is encouraging motorists to use the bridge crossing in The Dalles or Cascade Locks as alternative crossings.
This extensive closure schedule is due to emergency repair work to fix vandalism damage to the bridge lift span electrical and mechanical controls.
